Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are large industrial machines designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is typically situated on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are typically used for jobs that need tasks to be carried out at heights that exceed other types of lifts. For instance, workers are able to perform exterior renovations or repairs on medium sized buildings but using these lifts rather than having the extra work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one person. These buckets are more suited to specific tasks like for instance electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available in gas or electric configurations and are offered with both indoor and outdoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces beneath the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. Since these units should be positioned directly under the work location, as opposed to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, offer bigger platforms which allow the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these kinds of machines, because they should sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for window installation or cladding, as they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a good choice for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The cherry picker or boom truck refers to the utility vehicle usually utilized to raise employees for different tasks done at heights. Typically, these kinds of trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the equipment. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand as well as a winch for lifting and an actuator arm for lifting the boom.
Boom trucks take personnel to heights which would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy materials or equipment from one location to another. There are a variety of different crane types which can perform various purposes. Both of these different kinds of equipment excel at various tasks and are suitable for particular applications and completing particular jobs.
