Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas tidy and to pile up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck is available in several kinds: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This model has telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This particular version is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Often more than one kind of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and can maximize available storage space while increasing productivity.
