Kinds of Man Lifts
Scissor man lifts are made to vertically hoist workers to higher places. They are often seen in the construction business in order to transport or lift employees form one place to another. Man lifts are power-driven and offer special handholds and platforms or steps to provide safe transport. The kind of construction work being done would decide exactly which kind of man lift will be utilized in a project.
Electrically Insulated Man Lifts
According to Man and Material Lift Engineering, the man lift most preferred for working in close proximity to electrocution hazards are electrically insulated man lifts. The electrically insulated man lifts offer protection to workers against accidental electrocution. These type of machinery are in compliance with the American National Standards Institute A92.2 Category C, 46kV Rated. These electrically insulated man lifts offer fiberglass insulated booms, are operated on nonconductive hydraulic hoses that serve to reduce ground error and fiber optic control cables.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are a special type of aerial man lift which is meant to transport personnel vertically to difficult-to-reach places. The scissor lift derived its name because of the scissor type of design of the folding supports which serve to lower and raise the platform. In order to hoist the lift, each one of the folding supports is opened in order to extend the platform to higher heights.
The scissor lift would either be powered manually or hydraulically. The hydraulic powered system does not depend on power, however enables the scissor lifts to descend with just a release of hydraulic pressure. As the potential of mechanical malfunctions preventing the platform from descending to the ground rapidly is eliminated, hydraulic systems make safer scissor lifts at the end of the day.
Capacity
Man lifts are designed in a huge range of weight capacities. Some man lifts have the capability to only hold many individuals while others have the ability to hold one individual. Scissor lifts and platform lifts are more conducive for transporting a lot of people, as boom lifts have less space located in their bucket.
